About the Program

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh provides postgraduate on-campus (Master's) and online scholarships (Master's & Diplomas) to students from Africa with proven academic and leadership potential who have access to few educational opportunities. The scholarships applications for the 2026/27 academic year are now closed.

The Wits-Edinburgh Sustainable African Futures (WESAF) programme, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, aims to provide research training to equip students (primarily academics already holding tenured positions) to complete interdisciplinary research on areas related to sustainability in the African continent.
